BLAIR GARNER

Canyon, Texas native Blair Garner was still in his teens when he began his radio career as a disc jockey at KHBQFM/Canyon in 1981. Over the next decade, Garner worked at KAFM/Dallas, KHFI-FM/Austin, KKBQ-FM/Houston and a stint at WASHFM/Washington DC before making his way to WPLJ-FM/New York in 1988.

After taking over as afternoon host at KIIS-FM/Los Angeles in 1992, Garner created and syndicated After MidNite with Blair Garner, a six-hour show aimed specifically at the overnight market. This “morning show that justhappened to air overnights” focused primarily on country music and included Garner’s conversations with some of the genre’s biggest stars, in addition to movie, music, and sports stars. The show was heard on more than 250 stations nationwide. Regular features of the After MidNite show included segments devoted to celebrity gossip and “Historical Topic Hits,” dedicated to the year that a specific song was released.

Garner hosted the After MidNite show until 2013, when he joined a cast of country music stars and became the morning host at country music station WNSH-FM/New York.

Blair Garner was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2013.
