SID MARK
Sid Mark is best known as host of Sounds of Sinatra, the longest running syndicated program on radio in the medium’s history.
His career began as an all -night show host playing jazz, including Frank Sinatra’s music, on WHAT-AM / Philadelphia. That evolved into a full-time jazz station when Sid launched the “Mark of Jazz,” for which he was awarded Billboard Magazine’s Program Director of the year in 1974. In 1979 the Mutual Broadcasting Company invited Sid to host a New Year’s Eve program titled It Was A Very Good Year with Frank Sinatra as a co-host. Sid presented the idea to Sinatra and the nationally syndicated Sounds of Sinatra was born. It aired on more than 350 stations for more than 45 years. Frank Sinatra said of Sid: “Sid is my kind of guy. He can separate fact from fiction and knows the music business inside and out.” For many years, Sid Mark appeared on WPHT AM in Philadelphia as host of Sounds of Sinatra.
Sid received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the March of Dimes in 2006.
Sid Mark received a Legends induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2022.
