RUTH ANN MEYER

Ruth was trained to be a program director by Todd Storz in the 1950’s, known as the inventor of the Top 40 format. She was a native of Kansas City.

Her first position was in Continuity at WHB-AM, a Kansas City station owned by the Storz station. Ruth came to New York in 1960 to program WMCA. At WMCA she recruited the “WMCA Good Guys”. The Good Guys concept was copied by Top 40 stations around the world. She drew the logo for the coveted Good Guy sweatshirt and gave the station its compelling sound.

In New York City, she also programed WNEW-AM and WHN-AM, launching the city’s first country music station. She was recruited by NBC to run THE SOURCE rock network.

In 1983, she joined ABC Radio Networks to program the ABC Entertainment network.
