michael "Mickey” luckoff
Mickey Luckoff served as President and General Manager of KGO/San Francisco for over 30 years. He held the same titles for KSFO/San Francisco since 1995 and for Radio Disney’s KMKY/Oakland since 1998.
Luckoff began his career in sales for WJBK/Detroit before becoming a national sales rep for Metromedia, spending time in Chicago and Los Angeles as well as Detroit. He joined KGO as a sales manager in 1972. After only six months on the job, Luckoff was promoted to general sales manager and was named president and general manager in 1975.
Under his leadership, KGO has become known for a commitment to local programming and to providing relevant, compelling news coverage and talk. The station has enjoyed unprecedented success, ranking number one in the ratings since 1978 and receiving more Marconi awards from the National Association of Broadcasters than any other station in the country.
Luckoff has served on the Board of Directors of the NAB and is a two-term past president of the California Broadcasters Association.
Luckoff resigned from KGO after 35 years and a dispute with its new owner, Citadel Broadcasting in October 2010.
Michael “Mickey” Luckoff was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2008.
