MARY MCCOY

Mary McCoy’s career is a long and history-making one. She’s entertained radio audiences consistently for more than 70 years on radio. In fact, Mary McCoy holds the Guinness World Record for the Longest Career as a female Radio Presenter and Disc Jockey. Mary accomplished that by being heard on just two radio stations in the same city in her long record-breaking career.

Her career started in 1951 when she joined KMCO-AM in Conroe, TX, a community of 100,000 residents north of Houston. Decades later, in the early 1990’s, Mary McCoy was one of the first voices heard on a new radio station in the same community of Conroe, TX, on KVST-FM. Mary continued her on-air career for more than 30 years playing country music on K-STAR Country 99.7.

At the time of her induction, 70+ years into her radio career, Mary McCoy is heard six days a week playing classic country music with her on-air co-host, Larry Galla.

She received induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2010 and was also recognized by the Country Music Association of Texas in the same decade for her work as a Disc Jockey.

In 2024, Mary McCoy was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
