MARY McBRIDE

Mary McBride was host of her own nationwide radio network show from 1936-1957 on both the ABC Radio Network and the NBC Radio Network. The program was a topical, opinionated, entertaining program.

On her 10th anniversary, she filled Madison Square Garden with listeners. Her 15th anniversary program took place at a sold-out Yankee Stadium, and it was hosted by Eleanor Roosevelt. Mary McBride spent her entire day preparing for her one-hour daily show. Known and occasionally criticized for her Midwest accent, she replied, “and that’s exactly why you listen to me and trust me.”

She graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
