JON MILLER

One of modern baseball’s best-known announcers, Jon Miller has been the voice of the San Francisco Giants since 1997 on KNBR. At 22 he began his professional broadcasting career by spending a year calling play-by-play for the 1974 Oakland Athletics, then spent the ’78 and ’79 seasons performing the same role for the Texas Rangers before moving to WITS/Boston for three seasons with the Red Sox.

In 1983 Miller signed on to handle play-by-play duties for the Baltimore Orioles, a job he held at WFBR (and, later, WBAL) through the ’96 season. It was during this time that he began a two-decade association with ESPN, where he covered Sunday Night Baseball on TV (1990-2010) and 13 consecutive World Series on radio (1998-2010). Miller was at themicrophone in ’95 when Cal Ripken Jr. set the record for most consecutive games played and in ’07 when Barry Bonds hit his historic 756th home run. He has routinely been praised for both his encyclopedic knowledge of the game and his playful sense of humor.

In 2010, Miller received the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Jon Miller was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2014.
