ERICA FARBER


Erica Farber is a well-accomplished, well-respected, and influential businesswoman, with a lifetime of success in radio advertising sales, station and organization management and publishing.

During the early years of her career, she held sales positions in Los Angeles at KRTH-FM, KABC-TV, and KIIS-AM in Los Angeles. By 1975, she was appointed General Sales Manager of WROR-FM in Boston and was promoted to General Manager later in the same year. Her success in Boston led to an appointment as Vice President/General Manager of WXLO-FM, In New York of 1976. In January of 1980, she joined McGavren Guild as Director of Promotional Selling and was soon named Director of Business Development and Promotion. In 1983 she was appointed Vice President/General Manager of the Radio Marketing Division for the parent company INTEREP, one of the radio industry’s leading rep firms. Two years later, Erica was named Vice President /General Manager of INTEREP Marketing Systems and in 1986 was named Executive Vice president/Radio Development Director of INTEREP.

In 1992, after twelve years, she joined Radio & Records, the industry’s leading trade publication, as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. In April of 1994 she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, and assumed full publishing responsibilities in January of 1995, before becoming Publisher and Chief Executive Officer a year later. She stayed with Radio & Records for 17 years, creating a record of the industry’s accomplishments, providing education through industry conventions and recognized outstanding achievements through the creation of an established industry awards ceremony. 

Farber joined the Radio Advertising Bureau organization in January 2012, as Executive Vice President, responsible for membership, services and professional development. She became President and CEO shortly thereafter. In 2021, Erica Farber continues to lead Radio's advocacy efforts by helping to drive business, grow advertising revenue, and communicate Radio's digital transition.

Erica Farber served as President of the Society of Singers, Industry Liaison for the Broadcast Education Association, and is a board member of the Broadcasters Foundation and the Library of Broadcasting. In August of 1999, she was voted by the members of Radio Ink Magazine as the Most Influential Woman (MIW) in Radio and has remained on the list ever since.

Erica is one of the original founding members of the MIW’s and remains active on the Executive Committee. She is a past recipient of the American Broadcast Pioneer Award by the Broadcasters Foundation and was recognized by the MIW’s and the RAB with 2009 Trailblazers Award recognizing her role in “blazing new leadership trails” for women in radio.
