ERIC & KATHY

Considered the most successful morning team in Chicago radio history, Illinois natives Eric Ferguson and Kathy Hart were both radio veterans when WTMX/Chicago brought them together in 1996 to host the station’s morning show.

Born in Elburn, Ferguson’s radio career began in 1989, with credits that included an evening shift at WHXT/Allentown and morning shows at WPXR/Rock Island, WZOK/Rockford and KWMX/Denver. Crystal Lake native Hart had started at WYFE/ Rockford in 1983 and worked in a variety of formats at WZOK, WZUU/Milwaukee, WTRG/Raleigh and KZZP and KDKB/Phoenix.

At WTMX, The Eric and Kathy Show became a “lifestyle and caller-driven” show, with Ferguson and Hart presiding over a combination of music, conversation with listeners, interviews with celebrity guests, in-studio musical performances and discussions of personal relationships and life decisions—and sometimes edgy subject matter—presented with enough tongue-in-cheek humor to entertain audiences of all ages.

Driven by the hosts’ natural chemistry, The Eric and Kathy Show became one of Chicago radio’s top-rated shows within three years of its debut. The show has routinely finished among the city’s top three morning shows and has finished first among adults aged 25-54 for ten consecutive years.

Eric & Kathy were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2016.
