EDDIE O’JAY

Eddie O'Jay is one of the pioneering R & B disc jockeys who started his career at WOKY / Milwaukee. He moved to Cleveland's WABQ where he became one of the city most recognized and popular urban radio voices. Eddie O'Jay's career continued long after Cleveland with stops at WUFO / Buffalo, and WWRL, WBLS and WLIB in New York City. After 27 years in US radio, he expanded to international markets.

While being an air personality in Cleveland, he also started to manage a five-member band from Ohio that catapulted him into music history. The band was called the Mascots. As a tribute the band members took his name as their own, and the O'Jays would go on to their own long and very prosperous career culminating with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
