DR. RUTH WESTHEIMER


Dr. Ruth is best known to radio audiences for her Sunday night self-titled program that helped revolutionize talk about sex and sexuality, which aired on hundreds of radio stations between 1984 and 1990, distributed by NBC Radio.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer’s media career began in 1980 when her radio show, “Sexually Speaking,” debuted on WYNY-FM in New York City, and by 1983, her show was the top-rated show heard in the nation’s largest radio market. She was born in Germany, and lived in Switzerland, Israel and France before becoming an American citizen in the 1960’s, the same time period of which she earned her doctorate at Columbia University.

She was a professor before joining WYNY-FM and making her Sunday night debut.
