BROTHER WEASE

Brother Wease (Alan Levin) is Rochester, NY’s longest running and most beloved radio personality. His authentic “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” persona, the sharing of his personal life on-air, love of a good argument, and a genuine passion for helping the less fortunate has endeared him to listeners for nearly 40 years. The legendary concert promoter and producer, John Scher, has called Brother Wease (the Lead Emcee at Woodstock ’94 and ’99), “one of the greatest DJs in the history of the modern music industry”.

Brother Wease’s on-air presence and steady audience relationship has consistently awarded him with No. 1 ratings results, no matter who took to the Rochester, NY, airwaves in an effort to compete with him. A rare form of cancer similarly did not deter the inimitable on-air personality. Neither New York City nor Memorial Sloan Kettering could stop Wease from broadcasting his program live from a makeshift apartment studio, where in the middle of treatments, he never missed a single show.

Wease is a devoted father of five who shares his life with long-time wife, Doreen, and a French bulldog named Stevie Nicks. A Vietnam paratrooper who at the age of 19 began his first of three tours of duty, Wease has always used his radio success to do good for others. He is the founder of Riding for a Reason, the Wease Cares Children’s Fund and Kick Cancer’s Ass.

He was inducted into the New York State Broadcaster Association (NYSBA) Hall of Fame in 2009.
